SUMMARY

Building confidence and connections across various domains—school, athletics, the arts, and home—requires an understanding of the science behind performance. Presenters will provide an overview of the key concepts and strategies to foster confidence and meaningful connections, as well as ways to make a positive impact on performance and engagement.

OBJECTIVES

Participants will gain:

  • An overview of the importance of understanding the science behind performance
  • Knowledge regarding the impact of confidence and connections on success across different domains
  • Strategies to support mental health, as well as enhance concentration and focus
  • Elements to promote resiliency, including problem solving skills and a bounce back mentality.

SPEAKERS

Jacqueline Rhew, LCPC, CADC: As the co-founder of the Center for Emotional Wellness of the Northwest Suburbs, she is an expert in her field and is called upon by hundreds of school districts, family agencies and mental health facilities — locally and nationally — for consulting staff to better serve their youth. Jacqueline served as a Clinical Consultant for AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital for many years, and previously served as Assistant Director for the School Anxiety/School Refusal Program — a program she was instrumental in creating and developing. She has facilitated 300-plus workshops for professionals and parents — locally and nationally — on topics ranging from anxiety, school refusal, parenting, and self-injury.

Samantha Cramin, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker who completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Iowa and her Master of Social Work from Case Western Reserve University. She also earned a specialized certification in Trauma Informed Practice. Samantha has a diverse range of clinical experiences which allows her to build rapport and connect with a wide range of individuals, including children, adolescents and young adults. She values the importance of behavioral health integration which was utilized in her clinical rotations at the Centers for Dialysis Care and The Veterans Affairs, where she provided social and emotional support for patients with significant physical and/or mental health concerns. In addition to her individual clinical work, Samantha has experience in leading multiple groups, fostering skill development, psychoeducation and support. As a Division I soccer player, Samantha is also extremely well versed in supporting athletes to achieve their goals on and off the field. She is skilled at working with both athletes and non-athletes, focusing on topics such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, perfectionism, sports performance, and life transitions.

Lauren Bilbrey, MA, LBS1, has been a teacher for the past 18 years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and a Learning Behavior Specialist Certification (LBS1). Before choosing to invest her time fully into building the company in response to community need, she spent the 12 years prior as the Clinical Supervisor of Patient Education at Ascension- Alexian Brothers Behavioral Medicine, overseeing nine programs at two locations. Before leading her team at the hospital, she taught at the middle school and high school level, in the general education setting as well as in a therapeutic day school and alternative high school program
