Project SEARCH

What We Do

Project SEARCH at Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital is a nine-month vocational training program for young adults ages 18-24 who have disabilities. Project SEARCH Interns participate in continuing education in employability skills and complete three ten-week internships within the hospital. Prior to program completion, interns receive job development and placement services to obtain competitive employment in the community.

Out-of -School youth ages 18 to 24 who have disabilities.

Eligibility Requirements

Participants must turn in a completed application packet to projectsearch@parents-alliance.org to be considered a candidate for Project SEARCH. Candidates will complete an interview in early spring and have their application reviewed by the Selection Committee. Candidates who receive an offer must be able to provide their own transportation to and from the hospital/community employment. Candidates must be independent in self-care and medication management, have an open case with the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS)*, and have a desire to commit to competitive employment upon completion of the program.
